false error
« on: October 27, 2004, 07:24:39 PM »
I've been running Avast for about 1 year with no problems, however I've sudenly started to receive a message telling me that v 4.1 is not the latest version and asking me to update.
This hapens just after auto update has finished. I've also had to disable the Windows XT security monitor to stop it telling me the same thing.
Any ideas?
 ???Gary

It is true. 4.1 isn't the latest version. 4.5 beta (4.5.495) is the last one. Upgrade to 4.5 beta and the problem should be solved.

The betaversion certainly shouldn't be announced as a "new version available" for ordinary users.
What version (build) exactly are you running, gary_emms? (4.1.418?)

I'm running 4.1.418 with 0444.1 I've read the message again and its the VDS (0444.1) that is being flagged.

I'll try the 4.5 beta abnd see how it goes.

thanks
Gaz

Can't find the 4.5 beta so I've removed and reinstalled 4.1.418 but, same again, could it be a problem with XP service pack 2?

Try checking your system date, mine was out by a month and when I corrected it the problem dissapeared. :D

I think this has to do with the update to 4.1.501 which has some things in it to make the transitition to 4.5 smoother/easier. Perhaps Alwil already started to update to 4.5 to spread the load on their servers.

Just a thought........
