Avast update and restore point
« on: July 18, 2011, 12:06:12 AM »
Yesterday I updated Avast Free to version 6.0.1203. This required about three hours of download time. I hoped that the updated Avast might be able to locate the source of a recent problem, but whatever the cause, it isn't something that Avast recognizes.

I will probably try a restore point from before the symptoms appeared. This will undo the Avast update, but seems unlikely to remove from my disk what was downloaded during those three hours. Is there any way to recover the Avast update without going through another three hours of downloading?

Maybe you can tell us something more about your recent problems...

Why didn't you update avast from GUI? It updates only changed components, so you don't need to download 50-70Mb in one package. I think there was a reason why you didn't do that...
