Are you using WindowBlinds? Because that skinning app has many problems with certain programs.

What is the size of the font? (I mean the DPI settings -- see attachment)

But given the design of the Start button, the System IS somehow skinned isn't it? ;)

yes. in the "usual" way: patched uxtheme.dll. i never have seen this adverse effect before with any app. and i am using this skinning method for a long time.

Me too but I don't have that hole, on contrary, the number 4 ('icon') do not fit into the side bar. I can see only the half of it  :-\
