Scan freezes
« on: November 02, 2004, 11:48:46 AM »
Hi, recently when i try scanning my harddisk the files scanned counter hits 817 and wont go any further. I have moved files around so that the file that is scanned 817th is different, but it still hangs at 817. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before and what they did to fix it... or any suggestions as to the problem...

I didnt notice this problem until after it auto updated recently.

Thanks!!!

This can be caused by a bad file/folder. Run chkdsk first, than run a scan. It can also be a large file (archive? )in that folder that takes a while to scan.

Check Avast's log file to see if there is an error or anything else that can be of help.

Additionally, you can go to the program settings and turn on the creation of the report file (with "OK files" to be included as well in the report). This way, you can find out where the scan really stopped (it's going to be close to the end of the report).
