Hmmm ::) Avast 7 perhaps (or not, who knows  really? :) )

About the forum, probably even later  ;D

The things I would like to see improvements in:

1. The screensaver scanner. It would be nice to skin the progress box nicely, plus have more options, such as: Hide activity box; Stop box from moving around;

2. Inactivity scanner. Norton has this where if the computer is inactive for long enough, it just starts scanning in the background.

Other things I have seen other people already suggest that I second:

1. Make installer skin match that of the main application.
2. Small popup for scanning USB thumb drives when inserted. Nothing too intrusive though, I like how KAV 2011 does it, small window in the corner.

Because I'm lazy I'd like to see scan options by right clicking the tray icon instead of having to open up the UI.

Personally I prefer to have a fairly minimal right click menu on the avast tray icon. e.g. if you set-up your scheduled scan why would you even need to see scan options. There was a time when the avast tray icon context menu was very cluttered, a bit of a mess.

The right click menu is there in explorer if you happen to want to scan a file or folder.

But he just wants to right click on avast! icon to start the scan ::)

No that isn't what he said "Because I'm lazy I'd like to see scan options by right clicking the tray icon instead of having to open up the UI." Nothing about starting a scan in there and that was what my posts response was about, ::) right back at ya ;D

Scan options to be opened with tray icon? ... Useless feature... But to have Scan now option in tray icon will be good I think.

Why not make the file shield scan all packers by default...good idea!

Many zipped pieces of malware are around...

And if the web shield blocked it and the malware manages to bypass the web shield then why we should wait for the final moment of the file being unpacked...lets give it a early detection!.

Thanks!

I think better to add a quick setup for all screens at once with 2 levels of security

1) standart
2) hight (hight heuristiсs + something else)
3) + button for enable/disable detecting potentialy unwanted programs

1. total waste of time, archives are inert until unpacked and any content run. At which point the FSS does its scan on newly created files and executables, etc.

2. the web shield unpacks archives. So if it passed the web shield it would equally pass the FSS.

As always, it will release when it is ready, no artificial deadline. It is a closed beta, so  very early in the process.
