MS Outlook and Avast 4.5.517
« on: November 13, 2004, 02:30:31 PM »
Hi,

I've just update Avast Home to 4.5.517  ;D New ver looks really nice, but...

I use MS Outlook as e-mail client and now I can't download my e-mails.

I change the configuration manually (instead of "127.0.0.1" I wrote pop3.servername.com). Now I don't see icon in tray during checking for a new mail  :-[ Is it correct?

I think I read somewhere at forum that new release do it automatically ???

Greetingz for Alwil Team and all Avast users.

Usually its only pop.servername.com. Some servers won't work if you use pop3.servername.com as address.

ok, "pop3.servername.com " was an example.

But should I reconfigure my e-mail program (MS Outlook 2003)  ??? And what about icon in sys tray (I'm not sure how it's called in English - icon in right bottom, near clock, which is shown during downloading e-mails).

Cheers!

MS Outlook should be handled by Outlook/Exchange provider without any reconfiguration... is the provider running? You can also check its settings - there is an option there to show the icon in system tray during scanning.

All  (i.e) 6 providers are running. I've check the option yoy mentioned above, but I dont't see the icon in sys tray during scaning  ???

BTW, now Avast! (e-mails' downloading) works 10 times faster than earlier ver  ;D ;D ;D

Try to send yourself the eicar test file to see if you're protected.

I've just done it: seems that e-mail's scanning works (some of test was failed - e.g. #4 and #5(?) )
