Java virus continuously - Avast! says
« on: November 13, 2004, 08:10:33 PM »
Everytime I run Avast!, it always says I have vira in my Java folders. Can this be true?, if so why does vira so oftenly target these files? Can I do something to prevent this (I have Kerio as a firewall)?

Hehe, 3 Q's for the price of one - thank you in advance

Most certainly so.

Java scripting is a very common source code for use on the internet and as such, it is susceptible to virus infection just like anything else.

You can go into IE Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and disable Java Scripting and Java Logging for a start.
Secondly, monitor Kerio traffic log carefully to insure that all traffic has been permitted by you.  Should Kerio "ask" for permission to access internet, make sure that YOU want the program or process to do so.
Kerios will block most unauthorized incoming attempts to "hack" your system.

Three answers for the price of one!   ;D

If you're using the Java plug in under XP, try clearing the Java cache through control panel.
