How do I get inews to update?
« on: November 13, 2004, 08:23:03 PM »
Another naive (maybe) newbie request. How do I get inews to update - the last entry here is April 27th 2004. Is it still functional?

 avast! Home/Professional 4.1.396

  April 27, 2004

News:
- fixed a bug in the Internet Mail provider that was causing its seldom crashes
- fixed problems in the Standard Shield that were causing instabilities in some Win9x systems
- fixed a bug in the VRDB repair code that was causing that some files were reported as unrepairable even though they could be repaired
- fixed a crash of Enhanced UI when adding a schedule from a task's properties
- fixed saving of alert properties in the Enhanced UI
- fixed saving of screen-saver properties
- fixed lack of tooltips and sounds in the Simple UI
- fixed slow start of the program under Windows XP SP2
- enhanced Spanish language pack

This was the last applicable update.

Soon, the final release of 4.5 should be entered.

Do a manual update now and it should switch it over to 4.5.518

Good luck.

Thanks - I have already downloaded 4.5.518. I just wondered why the inews wasn't used much - it seemed a long time for there to be no news. I've been running betas for a while - it would be a useful way to let us know the changes in each version - but I guess the "official" version users wouldn't be interested.

In most cases before we receive inews about a program update, auto update will have already downloaded it, making the inews a little redundant (my thoughts only), hence not greatly used.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.7.6124 (build 24.7.9311.855) UI 1.0.811/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Actually, I have been wondering about the inews myself.
My last update news was from April 2004.
Much has changed since then.  Even with the update to 4.5 in all of my machines, the inews remained the same (old).

Would the Avast Team which to comment on this?
