4.5.518 is newer and better than 4.5.517 as you might have already infered from that fact, that 518 is slightly larger that 517.  :)

Cheers
Lukas.

...and lukor's photo implies you will see if you don't upgrade to 518  :)

if there's not any problem, you can wait for next program update, it should be released within some days (today?).

I'm not sure what was changed in 518, so if it was all right with your 517 you may not to upgrade your avast. New avast version should be released within some days, so you may wait.

On some setups the Network Shield provider was not automaticaly installed and you would have to go to Add Remove Programs and add it manualy. Version 4.518 installs it automaticaly.

Anyway, as Peter said, we are awaiting new update pretty soon, so you can wait. But in general, we consider new versions better so there is no need to be afraid, install it if it is available - but it may require reboot.

Silly for me to ask, but I do not see the Network Shield in my Avast 4.5.518
It does not appear in the module listing in the Avast "Change" menu.

In addition, I still have my MPW in my W98 computer but not in the XP, both 4.5.518  ???????

I dunno about the Network Shield not showing up  (unless you are meaning on your 98 machine and I doubt that..   you'ld realize why it isnt)   :)

but.. the MPW isnt needed with XP... so its not showing up there,  whereas it's still needed on 98. (in some instances)

No, not the 98 machine.   ::)
Still getting used to 4.5    Can we access the Network Shield, and are there any user interactive settings?

Yes, that makes sense considering the problems I had with my email clients when the systems updated to 4.5

One system required my use of the MPW to restore email, and the other required me to set things back manually to what I call the "no avast state".......removing reference to 127.0.0.1 and the appensand (#) from the username format.

Aren't computers wonderful!   :P
