Avast system UNSECURED
« on: November 01, 2011, 01:46:30 PM »
Yesterday, it was fine. Today, I come on and I hold my mouse over the Avast icon, and it says "WARNING, your system is UNSECURED." I opened it up and I see no shields down, and no option to "Fix it now". It's like nothing's wrong. This happened earlier this year in around February. Also, I registered and am logged in now, but when I went to send a support ticket, it says I'm not registered. What do I do?

No, it still says I'm unsecured, but it's acting like nothing's wrong.

Repair avast:
1. Control Panel - Add/Remove programs - avast!
2. Scroll down and click on 'Repair'.
3. Follow instructions.

Repair avast:
1. Control Panel - Add/Remove programs - avast!

And then reboot immediately before re-testing.

I just did that and rebooted, and it still says I'm unsecured.

No, it's like it thinks it's broken. A few minutes ago, I my virus definitions got automatically updated, and it still says I'm "unsecured". Every shield is up and running. Last time this kind of thing happened, I had people hacked into my computer but they've since left the building, so to speak. Last time, I uninstalled and re-installed Avast, but then I started getting "Shield Unreachable", no updates would come on, and it wouldn't let me uninstall it. I had to have a guy come out to fix it.

I have Malwarebytes, and it's doing fine. I've had both Malwarebytes and Avast since a few years ago, and they've never had a problem before.

For me AIS totally crapped out yesterday. UNSECURED, wireless never initialized and so it didn't everything else on my system. It just got stuck entirely because of avast!. After several unsucessful reboots i had to boot into safe mode and remove avast! from there. I'm now on MSE. I don't like it when things crap out for no reason at all like that. Even though it was the first time in years.
