Someone sending mail from our server
« on: November 11, 2011, 09:00:20 PM »
We are using Server 2003 and Exchange 2003.  We also have Avast 4.8.  A couple of days ago we were notified that we were blacklisted by Lashback.  Looking at the Internet Mail scanner in Avast it shows mail from Ibrahim Yusop <ibmyusop@sify.com> as coming from our server so I figure he hacked in somehow.  The Outlook/Exchange Scanner is not running and says "The provider is waiting for a subsystem to start".  How do I get the Exchange scanner running and how can I get rid of this spammer?  Any help would be appreciated as I just got thrown into trying to solve this and not real server literate.  Thanks.

it sounds like you have an OPEN RELAY server
check with this site: http://www.mxtoolbox.com/diagnostic.aspx
fill in the public name of your mailserver or the public IP.
