Avast pro doesnt show up

When i start my computer avast pro onguard doesnt show up. But it runs as proces (I see it when i press ctrl+alt+del) Problem both apeared on ver. 4.1 and 4.5. I use win. xp.  VPS version 0447-1.  Doesnt look like avast sees it as a problem since its just the icon thats missing. Dont know if it works optimal enyway. Not sure if the problem only with avast.

What version of Avast! are you using
What vps version?
What OS?
What exactly is the error message? (If you are getting one.)
The path and filename is of great help.
etc. etc.
The more info you supply, the easier it is for us to solve your problem.

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
