 How do I copy and paste my register key into the box?  Thank You! :)

- Select the key in the mail you received. (hold down left mouse button)
- Right click the selection, choose copy
- Start Avast en right click the key field, choose paste

Now that you have installed Avast, I suggest you spend some time to make yourself familiar with the options Avast provides.

start > programs > Avast > help

and

browse through this board.

Just use Avast. And as backup a online scanner.

Having two av applications on one system often leads to conflicts, and in the worse case even to both not functioning.

Besides that:
Remember that some malware disable the av applications. So this way is safer since they (sofar) do not disable online scanners.

To avoid conflict, it's better to uninstall AVG.
If you want, you can install AVG but without the resident and, in some cases, the email provider. You will stay only with the on-demand scanner as a second (backup) scanner.
