OK it isn't TDL3 however, I have some suspicions about your Kbd system file

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
  • Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.[/b]
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3.  If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

I am unable to disable Avast. The instructions in the click here are exactly what I did, right click and disable. It says "7 shields inactive" but when I run ComboFix I get a message saying that Avast is running. I am becoming alarmed that all is lost. I cannot disable or turn of in the Task manager either, getting the "unable to terminate process" warning.

Accept the warning from  combofix but do not allow Avast to quarantine or sandbox any files for the duration of the run

My Avast free version anti virus says it is in Enhanced Security Protection mode. It is demanding to be purchased to update it and restore protection. It tells me the database is out of date, but will not let me update telling me my license has expired and I must purchase to update. I cannot uninstall it, nor stop it using Task manager. I did some research and found that this is a hijack and malware masquerading as Avast. I have made 3 screenshots of what happens when I open and try to update. I attach first one here and then 2 further replies.

Could you re-register the free version - X out the ad page and then re-register
Does that work ?

I x it out and click on register now and the red window opens again. I tried it about 5 times. This is absolutely the worst infection I have ever had. Never had one I could not get rid of I am worried now my windows install is totally ruined. I tried to install Avira and I cannot install any other antivirus programs..the install gets stopped. So unless I can get rid of this, I have no antivirus protection
I had thought to download a fresh copy of Avast, but I think that is useless as what ever is in the guts of my system will carry over to any new install.

Can you get to safe mode ?

If so select safe mode with networking
Download aswclear  http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe

Uninstall Avast from the control panel
Then run aswClear
Reboot and let me know what the current situation is

OK, this is crazy. I went into the settings and turned off "self defense," and then I was able to stop it in the Task Manager. I tried earlier to run aswclear in safe mode, but aswclear vanishes in safe mode and is not visible on the desktop or using windows explorer. I will try again. Avast is not showing in my programs list, All Programs or in Revo Uninstaller. I will boot into safe mode now and try and get back to you.
