instal Avast

I have a new Computer- Laptop since last Monday(12/19) and used Avast Totality Internet Security.
until Thursday and the Application stopped working. I removed it and try to reinstall it but Installion failed.
I called Support ,but they couldn't resolve my problem either.
I have another Lapptop ,but there I am only running the Free Version and it is running fine.
What can I do to reinstall the paid Version?
To be on the safe Side I run on my Computer a different Virus Application.
Is Avast compatible with Windows 7 IE9?
I hope you can help

did your computer come with a preinstalled AV ?
any preinstalled AV must be removed before installing avast, never install more the one AV

it is also recomended to run a removal tool so all leftover files are gone from the AV you uninstalled
