Question !
« on: December 30, 2011, 02:58:15 PM »
I have a question.
I have stopped my avast to run a full scan of my computer with bitdefender free edition and my computer slowed more... >:(
Free avast detection engine detects all types of infections?
I do not want to installing other antivirus software that slows my system, avast not
So far my system only with avast behaved normally.

Are you using two antivirus at a time? Well... I won't be surprised that the minimum would be the slowdowns ::)

You should never use multiple antiviruses. Many cause problems together.

So, you already had avast (one resident antivirus) and (temporarily) installed an additional resident antivirus? (2 resident antivirus tools at the same time.)

After you uninstalled, have you ran the respective removal utility for that other tool? Look for it in this partial list and read the relevant info http://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/security-software/.

you did not understand what I mean ...

BitDefender FREE! has only scan engine is not Resident!

I wanted to know if avast would do better to scan like other antivirus programs.

BitDefender was installed for 5 minutes during which avast  was stopped.

I uninstalled BitDefender through IObit Uninstaler

I somehow doubt BitDefender made their AV to be compatible with other AVs, whether it is actively scanning or not. Even if it was, Avast! is not.  As Pondus said, read the link Donovansrb10 posted.

And uninstalling any AV product with some 3rd party tool can always go bad.....use normal uninstall or the company's removal tool (or both).

I could go off on IObit, but Pondus already presented enough relevant info about that.

At this point, I would first run the BitDefender removal tool appropriate to the version you had.  Then if Avast! is still messed up, do a program repair.  Thats done by starting to uninstall Avast! normally via Windows but choose the Repair option when it presents itself.
