I been using AV for years and not too many problems but until yesterday the game launched fine, now the check for update comes up but when the play button is pressed it closes? I can turn off AV and everything is fine, this just started with yesterdays update????  Anyone have any ideas?

Since the game is an online game, there is the possibility that there is an infection that Avast is detecting in the latest update or it could be a FP.  At this point, I would not play the game until you know the final answer.

Have you run an Avast scan on your machine?

Yes, its been installed on this computer since I built it a few years ago. All scans come up ok. It will launch if I go to the Dir: and click the .exe

Just to clarify, you have done an Avast scan since playing the game when it gave you the problem?

In the meantime, I would not play the game to be on the safe side, and wait for the next Avast update and see what happens.  If you still have problems, then there could be malware with the game in which case you should not play the game at all until the site is cleaned.

You can also submit the url site to an online scanner site like:

Virus Total:  http://www.virustotal.com/
Anubis:  http://anubis.iseclab.org/?action=home
Unmask Parasites: http://www.unmaskparasites.com/security-report/?page=servepics.com

Let us know if the site is clean or infected.  Thank you.

Yes I scanned 3 times yesterday. I even uninstalled AV and tried AVG (full scan also)and it let it WOT run. I never liked AVG and uninstalled late last night and reinstalled AV free right after the uninstall of AVG. The strange thing is I can execute the .exe and it will run but from the shortcut it will not start with AV running. I did the online scan last night with one I've used for years ( http://www.jrwhipple.com/freeviruschk.html ) and it was clean. It seams to be something after yesterdays update that changed.

I found it was blocking the shortcut, but could be executed using a file manager direct from the directory. Strange.... but if I turned off AV using the stop protection for 10min it would work. Under "Behavior Shield" I used the "Expert Settings" and excluded the .exe in the shortcut path and it works.

Just to reduce potential conflicts, you should now run the removal utility for AVG, so to remove any potential remnants of your previous install (see my signature for the removal link).
