Avast firewall with Call of Duty
« on: January 05, 2012, 06:24:43 PM »
I have the problem that I can't connect to the Servers in the game Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. It says connecting to Online Services, it works 1 time after reboot, that I need to reboot again to  play a second time. Sometimes it works after many connection tries. Avast must have some bugs with this game. I tried everything what they said and the problem is avast. I got Internet Security and don't want to turn off avast every time I play and be unprotected. What should I do? Is there a solution to unblock this game.

The firewall has a "Friends" list.  Have you tried that yet?

You would need to add the Ip address (or range of addresses) to that list.

edit: By that I mean the address of the COD server.

Ok, try going into your Web Shield's Expert Settings, and tick the box that says "scan traffic from well known browser processes only".

Having the same issue what AVAST need to do is unblock the Call Of Duty simple as that so they need to contact their technicians and resolve the issue not that hard

Hi Johnathon,

I'm very sorry you are having issues with Avast.

Could you please help us with the investigation by providing some data?

Please try disabling Avast shields one by one (e.g. disable firewall and connect to Call of Duty server, if it doesn't help disable web shield, connect to CoD servers and so on) and post here the shield that is responsible for connecting problems.

Thank you very much,
HK
