Help Info
« on: January 11, 2012, 03:28:09 PM »
I tried downloading software and got this message from avast.  File infected with: elf:Lootor-H [PUP]  What is it?  I can't find any information on it anywhere and other users that downloaded the software swear it's clean.

PUP is not virus, but a warning that you have a program that can be used for good or bad

PUP (potentially unwanted program)

was it OneClick Root for android you tried to download   ;)

upload suspicious file(s) to https://new.virustotal.com/ and test with 40+ malware scanners
when you have the result, copy the url in the address bar and post it here for us to see

Virus
Is the "all things root" "guide" infected with something? When I try to post a comment in that forum, I get a blocked notice from my anti-virus. When I try to download one click root, I get a a blocked notice from my anti-virus. Both notices state the same thing...infection type "elf:Lootor-H [PUP]" What is going on? Obviously something is, I can post a message here, but won't let me there because of this. WTF?

Yes, it was Once Click Root.  I just wanted to make sure avast didn't render it useless before I tried to use it.
