virus chest

 :)1.  Using latest avast home edition. Once a virus is detected the pgme does not activate options such as Heal, Send to Chest, Continue etc.

2.  Within the virus chest the option of "heal" is not getting activated.

I am using Win XP with 1.8 GHz AMD Athlon processor on a Mercury motherboard with 256 MB RAM. My Avast is updated as of 27 Nov 04.

Please Advise action.

Hi and welcome to the forums
Can you identify the name and location so we have a better picture of what we are dealing with . without knowing that i suggest maybe a boot time scan or from safe mode where system files are not in use. If this still doesnt help maybe a online scanner will shed some more light.

With avast 4.5, it only offers the options if they are applicable. So a file that is infected and can't be repaired (trojans and files that haven't been scanned by the VRDB process), then you won't see the option to repair. You will only see move to chest or delete, move to chest is the safest first step as it can be reversed later, unlike delete.

    - What OS are you using? is it up to date?
    - avast! version and VPS file (virus database) number, e.g. 0436-4 (see about avast!)
    - What was the virus name, what was the filename, where was it found
      example (C:\windows\system32\infected-filename.xxx)?
    - What actions have you taken to try and resolve the problem?

Just try as ginblossom suggested. Run a boot scan an let us know the outcome.
