... And v.7. has no KB articles yet anyway :(. The screen shots are a little bit different, but essentially, the steps are more or less the same.

@ClassyJakey,

There is relatively a simple solution. Download the latest stable version of avast, of the same edition (Free / Pro / AIS) you are currently using. If you are using Pro / AIS, download its latest stable Trial.

Close any other applications and run the new setup.exe (over the current avast; NO need to uninstall first). Once finished, wait until the HDD led is no longer blinking "like crazy" (only normally). Is there any messages about system changes? Allow system changes, and *then* click on "reboot now -> yes" (the end of the installation process).

After the reboot, let avast start normally (don't "rush it"). Is it working correctly now? Please report back.

Is that screen shot taken after installing ANEW (no uninstall needed for now) as I suggested? Because "update" is NOT what I suggested, so your post is confusing me.

Well,It still didnt work

1. Download avast! Pro Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_pro.exe
2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
4. Reboot.
