sometime,

Once you open the Program Files, go to Alwil Software and then just click on the Avast folder.  It is listed as ashquick.exe

If you click on any other folder, you will not see it.

Scheduling of scans is only in the Pro paid for version. In the home version you can use the task scheduler and ashquick.exe as you have already found. There are however, few options on how to deal with a virus should it encounter one.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.7.6124 (build 24.7.9311.855) UI 1.0.811/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

When I click on ashquick.exe, a window opens and closes immediately, before I can read what it say.  It does not look as if it checks for viruses, since it all happens too fast.

Ofcourse it closes immediatly. You have not specified what to scan.

read here on how to schedule a scan with the home version:
