Normal update vs stream
« on: February 24, 2012, 03:53:21 PM »
I get up early each day and see my avast pro update on boot up. I have not got an update for the 24th yet. Is this because I installed the new version 7.0.1407 and they will come later in the day due to the streaming cloud updating? I am guessing this because I looked under the folder defs of program files and see there is one there named stream with todays date. Or is it that avast is very busy with the new version going out yesterday? Is there a way we can be sure the cloud updates are working or do I just have to look at the defs folder and see if there is one there with todays date? thanks slybo

Hello,
it' OK. If there was internally built today's VPS (120214-0) and still not released then there are created streams (which are released faster than regular VPS) with this name. This new streams works with previous VPS version with no problem.

Just to be sure I understand you are saying there has not been a normal update for the 24th and do not worry?

avast usually release 2 daily updates....and more if needed.....and sometimes none

http://www.avast.com/virus-update-history   OBS: the website may be behind in showing released VPS

if something is wrong there should be a popup

I have a question about virus definitions update. The latest VD update is 120224-0. Avast says that this new database has been released at  11,20 AM, but avast has updated his virus definitions only 10 minutes ago, at 4.30 PM. This morning I have turned on my computer at 12.00 o clock and avast hasn't updated....it has updated only at 16.20 o clock...
why is there so much difference between the time of release and avast effective virus definition update?

Yes, it's time of build on our server, then we were doing some testing, which takes more time today.
