Internet Mail Provider Problem Again
« on: December 08, 2004, 04:28:19 PM »
Good morning...

I am still having problems with the internet mail provider starting correctly. Yesterday, at the advice of Technical, I removed the MS Outlook/Exchange plugin, booted, and it was working all right.
I did some maintenance on my system, and when I logged back on, I had to stop and start the provider manually again.
New emails were not scanned, of course...but I wanted to let you know that, yes, OE was open. ;)

Any ideas of what is happening?  Avast is (and has been) secured in program control in ZA.

would any other apps be causing this to happen?
Ad-Aware  Spybot  SpywareBlaster    Prevx   ???

Just a post script...

I have tried everything suggested on the various threads and what has been told me by IM...

Can't someone help, please?

What exactly did you do?
What exact things did you fix/remove?

Yes, they could mess things...
For instance, Prevx and TeaTimer (from Spybot) could block avast startup entries.
Could you disable both of them and try to repair avast installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
The best things in life are free.

Eddy, it was just running a boot time scan, cleaning the cache, ran Spybot and AdAware (both clean)...
other than emptying the temp folders thru disk cleanup, nothing was done.

There does not seem to be any connection between my doing scans and this happening. It will work fine when I log on...say in the morning, then that evening when I log on, I have the problem. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to when/why it's happening.

Maybe it's something on my system...a setting or something? I am ready to give up and just do it manually if I have to.
I hate to keep coming back with the same problem, so maybe it's best if I just work around it.
