cannot send e-mails .....please help

untill i installed avast4 i had no problem sending e-mails
i am not very good at understanding tech talk so if you can help please make it simple ??? :-[

To give us a chance to help You pls give us some more details:

What OS are You using ?
What E-mail client ?
Do You have a Firewall installed ?
Is there any error message when you try to send mails ?
