Free Norton security scan? What's that about? 

Google Pack has it. It's free (on-demand scanning). It won't conflict with avast and you could have a third opinion from Symantec. You can't go further, I mean, talking that good about Symantec and installing the on-access, but, after all it's free and it's there

1) Online Scan = Scans while OnLine connected to the Internet 
2)Download BitDefender Free Edition 10 =  Download Program-Install on system as Non Resident Backup AV program- Internet Connect not required for scan an on-demand virus scanner
