There seems to be some confusion in the latest version numbers on the adobe website, the latest they list is the version number you have there for win7 IE " 11.5.502.135" but when I check my win7 system the current and latest version is 11.6.602.108

The Adobe auto update installed it, it's not a beta.

I was actually trying to install the version you posted but the installer kept telling me that the version already installed was newer which didn't make any sense as I thought that the posted version was the latest until I actually checked my Adobe version number and realised what was happening, weird.

Seems the auto updater screwed it up. The version I posted earlier today is the latest non beta..!!

Well that even weirder as that beta version is Flash Player 11.6.602.105 Beta (IE), the one I have installed is 11.6.602.108

Since V7 Update 9 there is no longer a way to manually update. At least I don't have it any more. The update scheduling is also gone.

Well, you could go to Control Panel > Java and manually update.
And also the automatic update (scheduling) is there.

No, there was no update tab at all in the control panel for Java, no manual or scheduled updating.  I found that I still had the 64 bit Java installed, from trying the "not ready for prime time" IE10 for Win7 preview, as well as the 32 bit version that IE9 uses. I uninstalled the 64 bit Java and then my Java Control panel said 32-bit and was back to normal with the update tab. I was then able to manually update.

Indeed, my Java is 32bits although my system is 64bits. But I've thought Java will detect the system and install the appropriate version and it did not...

The choice of installed Java version 32 - 64 is left to the user as it depends on which browser your using that you require Java for or which application you are running that requires Java.

For example on my win7 64 of which I only use the 32bit browser so the 64 bit version of Java would be pointless ( note that I disable the Java browser add in's ), I only have the 32 bit Java installed purely because my Ebook reader needs it for file transfer.

It actually appears to depend on what browser you are using to visit the Java download site. I run the 32 bit version of IE9 and I got the 32 bit Java version. When I was trying the IE10 preview, which doesn't have a 32 bit mode, It said I needed the 64 bit Java so it got installed. When I reverted back to using IE9, (which has a 64 bit version but runs much faster in it's 32 bit version so that's what I use), I did not uninstall the 64 bit Java and I guess that was what caused the problem with updating. I had both 32 and 64 bit Java installed and  the update options were not present in the Control Panel which had an icon that simply said Java. Uninstalling the 64 bit Java changed the Control Panel icon to say 32-bit and the updating options reappeared.
