CryptoPrevent Updated to version 7.4.21:  https://www.foolishit.com/cryptoprevent-malware-prevention/
Definition Updated

This version seems to have a problem, at least the free version.  Every time one uses the interface to check for updates, it finds a definition update, repeatedly.  I doubt the it is finding updates all the time, based on the definitions history of fairly rare updates.

Just FYI, no issues with the Premium version; manual or auto. :)

FWIW, evidently now when the definitions are updated (and say that they were applied), they actually aren't and also aren't saved.  One didn't have to also click Apply for definitions to take effect in previous versions.  I find that clicking Apply and allowing Windows restart is now required and that CryptoPrevent doesn't find new definitions on rechecking for updates.
I've got the free version and was getting the same when checking for updates, since the recent program upgrade.  However they seem to have fixed the problem over the last day or two -- update checks (manual) now have gone back to the normal behavior, "no updates available" most of the time.

I suspect their system is similar to avast's in that "definitions" updates are actually defs + engine, and one of the later ones fixed this without requiring another program update, at least in the free version.  Anyone still experiencing the problem in the premium version?

Noted exact same behavior on latest new version re definitions updates not taking hold.  As of two days ago, something changed in definitions file and this one took.  Use free version, so updates are done manually once a week or so, and applied when they come in.  Was considering a clean install for a bit to see if that would clear up the definitions updating issue, but turned out to not be necessary.

Note that on our old-favorite ...distribution3 page (for safe/clean upgrades -- and still showing v.19 files, by the way) there's now a warning that the page and its download links will be killed on Dec.22.  Hopefully the links provided by abruptum will provide more or less direct equivalents ... ideally I'd like someone to come up with a page URL which has links to all versions of the update, same as we've had up till now

I just use the standard adobe page that checks your version and says what the latest one is. I download any updates through that page and have never had a problem.
