Test root install, device updates
« on: April 18, 2012, 05:36:15 PM »
Is there a way to test/ensure the root installed, wipe-protected app is installed and working without an actual wipe?  Also, will the install of the root app likely break carrier device updates?  For example, Razr/Razr Maxx updates are rolling out.  Will the special partition break that update?

Hello,

to see if Anti-Theft is installed rooted you open Anti-Theft and open the System Status section. there is a "Root Installation: Yes" line if you installed it rooted.
You can also open the Advanced Settings -> Hard Reset Protection. If the options are available you installed it rooted.

However - on some devices (like my Galaxy Nexus) - the process of rooting the device prevents you from using the automatic system updates.
