Why post in english ? I`m romanian , and my avast is in my language. I install avast in romanian english. Why should install in english ?
Is inncorect becose start in 01.05.2012 until 01.05.2013. OK ? Today is 26.04.2012. Do you like corect this ?

Anyway , i unninstall avast becose this problem persist. Avast has problems with all versions 7.
I install MSE version 4 , relased yesterday , and this is great.
Never install avast. Bye , and die in peace with your avast.

i am sure its just a bug...not avast not wanting to provide free software...there are bugs present in all kinds of software and the forum users represent a very small % of avast users.

If it is a bug, then it should be a very easy one to fix.

I am also convinced that this problem must be affecting lots, if not all new users of Avst Free.

I am typing this post on a PC on which I have just carried out a fresh Win 7  install. Again, Avast Free won't register in the normal manner. This problem has been present for over a week now. I'm pretty sure a "patch" would have been issued if there were a serious problem with the Avast engine or virus database. Maybe the software engineers (or perhaps their bosses  ) think this problem is only a minor one.

I had this problem too. I solved it by trying offline registration BUT I opened registration page through CHROME browser!! I was trying registration by FIREFOX several times before soccess!!

is not a little problem ....is a BIG PROBLEM. No virus does this. It's a shame avast

@florin752010: stop trolling if u refuse help (eg. refusing to post in proper language (english) here, refusing to post in the appropriate romanian forum of avast)

ur refusal to follow instructions and promoting MSE in other posts is not acceptable.

Some people may not see this as an important issue, but it's the first thing users are expected to do once the software is installed. Not a great welcome or first experience for new users. It has also been a problem for months and ignored by recent updates.

In a competitive market with increasingly savvy users I think it's a bold requirement to demand a registration in the first place, especially with people trying to cut down on spam etc. When this method of registration doesn't work unless you buy the full version I think it's just plain unprofessional. I appreciate another (even more laborious) method of registration is available, but I wonder how many new users don't just remove the software in favour of another product when faced with this fault.

If this is deliberate and they are assessing the figures to see if it makes financial sense to make it more difficult to register the free version I just hope they are also able to access the stats on the amount of people removing the software shortly after installing it.

Good news !

I'm just finishing setting up this PC for a friend and I thought I have one last attempt at registering.

It worked !

Let's hope it continues to do so. I can understand the odd time when the registration system might be out of action for a short period, but it seems to me like this episode has gone on for days. Maybe I`ve just been unlucky, but several attempts on several different days bought the same result until a few moments ago.

Maybe someone's listening to us !
