Avast Free causing WIN7 to freeze briefly after waking

WIN7 x64 Home Prem
Avast Free v7.0.1426
MS Windows Defender
MS Windows Firewall
IObit Malware Fighter v1.4

Have been using Avast since v3 or thereabout, starting with a Vista machine, and have been very happy with Avast, which coexisted with the other 3 without any problems whatsoever.

Switched to a new notebook since late last year with above, though on earlier versions.  Things were still running smoothly till after the update to 7.0.1426.

I now have an intermittent problem of everything (mouse, keyboard etc) freezing for around 10sec after waking up from sleep or hibernation (but not on reboot, yet).  It would appear that the Avast auto-update function might have something to do with it.

Prior to 7.0.1426, the auto-update popup would appear almost immediately after waking, with the voice notification coming at approx the same time, and NO FREEZING.

However, starting with 7.0.1426, the timing of this sequence has changed slightly.  The popup would appear, then the voice notification would come a while later, sometimes up to 10sec apart.  Sometimes the freeze would happen in between the popup and the voice notification.  Other times, the freeze would happen even before the popup appears.

The freezing has been so intermittent that I have yet to ascertain the exact sequence or establish a precise timing.

Hope this is clear enough for everyone else to understand.
