Auto update on full time internet pc
« on: August 27, 2003, 03:46:55 PM »
I have been following with interest the dialogue on automatic updates via modem ( http://www.avast.com/forum/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=772 ).

We have a potential issue with automatic updates - our computers are on all the time (without sleep mode) and run Windows 98se.  Yesterday I manually updated from Aug. 22 to the Aug. 26 definitions.  Today I checked another computer running Avast 4 - it is still on Aug 22!  Isn't twenty-four hours sufficient to check and download the update?

Please advise.  Thank you.

  Eric

If the connection is present, the update should take place no later than 4 hours after we issue it. If it does not something went probably wrong.

1. Have you set the UseRAS option?
2. How is the computer connected?
3. Can you send the setup.log?

Thanks

Oops, we're on a T1 so on all the time.

Haven't messed with that setting.

It's still an eval version I believe.

I don't have permission to attach the setup log even with .txt extension.  To the naked eye it's running at odd intervals.
