How is that different from Windirstat which also find files and folders that eat up the most space in local harddisks and even works on flash drives and external hd's.
You could compare them and let us know. :)

Wiztree is much faster than windirstat on local drives because wiztree scans the mft while windirstat scans the entire hard disk.
Windirstat beats wiztree if you want to know the files and folders that eat up the most space other storage media since wiztree only works on local hd's.
It would be great if wiztree also works for all files systems and all storage media eg flash drives, external hd's, etc.

Very interesting info for Win8 users: http://www.winhelp.us/configure-windows-defender-in-windows-8.html

Always handy to include your USB in Windows Defender´s scanning settings: Windows Defender can be found to go to your start screen, then give in Windows Defender. Click Windows Defender. Go to settings (fourth tab page).

Add Zip-files and USB-storage media to your scans.
Make a System Restore Points (will create a restore point before malware and malcode are being removed, when anything goes wrong)
View your scan history and quarantaine. Then you have an overview of what virus and malware was detected  so you may find out on what occasion you were being infested.  Info credits go to Joris Jan Goos,  Microsoft´s. Product Marketing Manager Windows.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Hi bob3160,

I know that, bob3160. I use Windows Defender as an additional scan, just like McAfeeSecurity Plus and Bitdefender´s 60 second scanner. These are non-resident scanners and will do no harm next to my main residential av/solution...
The only flag-detection  I ever had was from McAfee´s for visiting the Hidemyass proxy site. This because the fileviewer owner, Redleg, won´t allow me to scan particular suspicious  URLs, because the scanner thinks I am not the site/owner and I am not....allthough my intentions always have been good and benign...

No root access firewall for Android

I found an Android firewall that does not require your device to be rooted. I'm using it and it works very well. It's called, appropriately enough, NoRoot Firewall and is available from Google Play.

Windows 8.1 blue as free update to Windows 8 owners

http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/archive/2013/05/14/windows-keeps-getting-better.aspx

What an absolute load of marketing tosh with zero information. I'm sure is they tried to change for windows 8.1 all those early win8 adopters would be mightily displeased.
