another precision:

i have also tried to set up Startup Delayer to defer AVAST when restarting the laptop (120s).
what i have seen so far is that before AVAST is running, i already get a dummy IP @.
so my assumption is that the problem is not AVAST running but AVAST installation itself.
does anybody what is done at installation time (registry update...) ?

Very strange... avast does not change IP address, does it?
avast can't interfere at this point...
I suppose that you already repaired your installation (Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window)...

I've seen it twice in that the router software didn't work with a certain application. Very rare, but it did happen.
Heva you already contacted the manufacturer to see what they say about this?

I have the same problem with yvhanoi.

When avast disabled, the wireless connection is OK.

When avast enabled, it is very difficult to connect to the wireless router although it shows a wireless network is in range. Sometimes it can connect after I plug in and out the PCMCIA Card many times.

It seems there is a conflict between avast and linksys driver, because when avast enabled, the STATE in the attached pic shows:
"Can not communicate with device driver."

Whenever, welcome, if you don't mind the off topic, I could not resist:
Which program did you use to 'shred' the screen shot above?

I'm trying the SnagIt trial version, it looks a litle like that, but probably not.

I am using SPX Instant Screen Capture. Very easy and handy.

Thanks whenever. Unfortunately, it's not a freeware :'(
That's right neither are freeware, but it does save a lot of time, rather than capture an image and then have to edit it using a graphics editor.

I too liked the ScreenPrint32 (freeware) that you recommended to me some time ago, it is limited in what it can do. Having used SnadIt for just over a week, the cost Vs convenience is in favour of a one off payment.

When I complete my 30 day trial, I will try the SPX Instant Screen Capture and decide which to go for. The SPX is a little less costly, but I think that SnagIt has a few options not available in SPX, the decision is are they worth the extra cost.
