Techie

http://www.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org

Techie you choose your language at the time of installation.  There isn't a different package for each language.  They are all bundled together.

I use KDE interface rather than Gnome.  It will ask you that during the install.

Hi Culpeper!I'm using Mandriva LE 2005 fully updated(it's a locally modified distro so it's in my native language) and i installed the .rpm packages(ver. 1.0.1) and everything seems to be fine it's just i cannot click OK(that's V REDU in my language) when i enter my reg key. It's a really weird problem and i had a similar one with Skype(my IM program) when i entered my username and pass i also couldn't click OK but after a few restarts the problem went away and i could click OK.I'll post a screenshot when i'm in linux(i'm setting up Flock currently in windows ;) )

Thanks

Mikey

EDIT: I just saw your reply to Tech in that screenshot thread..I think i installed the older version so i'll try again and let you know....

Yeah, I discovered this. 5 CD. The Internet installation did not work for me (1 CD + connection to ftp server).
Never mind. I'm finishing the download of 3 CD and let's try  8)

You're welcome Revan!  I don't know of a deb package for Avast.

Techie:

http://www.thejemreport.com/mambo/content/view/178/42/

The above link will save you some time installing browser plug-ins.  Also, in Suse be sure and check the "Online Update" occassionally.  Other than that, after you get Suse installed it is solid as a brick.  There is also a couple of Suse forums.  Just do a google search for "Suse Linux Forums".

Also, the Yast2 modules are your friends.  It is part of the Control Center.

As for email.  I use the KDE Kmail.  It supports AV scanning.

Can Avast use proxy to update?
In Windows version it could.
I never tested into Linux but I did not remember to find a way to configure it through avast GUI.
Hope that you get a better help than mine.

Hello,

we haven't heard lately anything new about avast for Linux Workstation.
Can we please get an update of what's going on?
Is there a new beta to try out? Will there be a gui version?

We are very interested in the Linux version, so any news are very welcome!

Regards,

Sascha

The GUI beta version is out.  Link can be found on page 3 of this thread.  It is still a work in process though.

Will have any changes in the licensing process? I mean, will it be released for free to Home users?  ::)
