If it's an avast! forum this doesn't mean he can't make suggestions based on experience from competition.

So improvements regarding FileRep (you know the best FileRep I've ever seen is Norton Insight and I'm sure with the number of avast!'s users they could do well things...)
Maybe a Rating Scan ? which scans critical areas (flash scan) + memory in the cloud for file reputation ...

Sorry this is not Norton or COMODO forums...its avast forums... We want avast...and not norton's or COMODO's reputation scans!! btw, norton is not even a antivirus...but just a big reputation scanner.
Totally untrue, Norton is an effective and fine Antivirus product which does NOT rely solely on reputation.  It only uses the reputation data when something appears possibly suspicious but does not have a signature in the AV database (which is very extensive).

I agree that the best FileRep service does belong to Norton as well. What the poster was saying is that with the size of Avast's user base, it's reputation service has the potential to become as good as Norton's.

Hmmm... I think avast! has a better reputation service. Why do you think the contrary? What are we missing?

- Protection from change the browser start page
- One button to activate the search for potentially unwanted software for all screens and scans
- Browsers in a sandbox work perfectly with any settings sandbox
- White button on the pop-up messages replace to the button with color message

You're missing the obvious fact that Norton has been doing it far longer and therefore has a much more extensive set of data to draw from. Avast is a new player in this arena. Norton Insight is widely recognized as the leader in the field.

I'm not sure of that. On contrary...

Avast is a new player in this arena. Norton Insight is widely recognized as the leader in the field.
The key here is how fast and how many files you can get in contact with. With 170+ million users, avast! is much ahead from Symantec to get in contact with emergent files.

@Dch48

Yes, Norton started its reputation service since 2010 and it works really well ... Just to compare Norton and avast! are using mostly an automated cloud classification aren't they ?
Comodo's file reputation is done only by analysts that's why an unknown file might be sandboxed a looong time until it gets classified.

How many Symantec users do you think there are? I bet it's more.

Okay, even if the figures are right, my statement still stands. Norton has the best file reputation service at this time and Avast, because of it's large user base, has the potential to become as good if not better. It just hasn't been in play long enough. But, there is another factor in play here. Many Avast users will choose to opt out of all reporting features whereas very few Norton users will if they even can in the first place .

hello,

1.
can avast add a anti theft in the avast product for laptop?
I take my laptop to school and sometimes he stands alone, it is quite creator corpse him to steal.

avast have this function for mobile.

2.
I use avast account for four fifths computers to manage, and I would be useful if your remote can control just like avast avast mobile security. but for example you can scan, the vault, change settings and stuff.

greets from jeffrey
