I made some new settings in my free avast a couple of weeks ago.
I put also on it manual updates and he cries every day for updating.
But I cannot do anything with it, because I forgot my access password (bad idea, to put password in it, I could find a better entertainment).
Even if I try do give him the OK to update, avast keeps asking me the access password.
I don't know how to reset or remove this password.
Now my free avast is frozen in my last settings. Can you help me?
Thank you! George
I'm in the same boat as George....
I thought I would be clever by increasing the security to maximum and requiring a password to change every little thing on Avast settings, but I realised after saving the settings and Avast launched into a boot scan that I hadn't made a note of the password and had chosen one that was really difficult to crack, again, thinking how clever I was being
I tried finding out how to reset the password from Avast itself, then the website, until I stumbled across this forum. I still couldn't find a way to reset the password as all the entries I read were about resetting your password for your Avast account, or your Avast forum membership. I thought I would give it a try again today after logging on and being greeted by the Avast voice and a big yellow 'caution' sign still menacing it's fear-inducing warning over the Avast icon. Finally my Avast forum activation email had arrived by today too, so I was able to log on in here and lo and behold, find this thread. Thank you George!!
Thank you Pondus for supplying the solution too. I will be following your advice and uninstalling and re-installing, only this time, I will make a note of the password in a secure place (which is not my memory unfortunately
