Avast can not automaticly update
« on: February 26, 2005, 10:44:22 AM »
So my problem is, Avast(home) can not automatically update my virus database. (i also get this message: "An error has occurred while attempting to update!). I have to reinstall Avast.home edition every 14. day in other to get i to function. That means that this problem cures first after 2 weeks or something. Thanks for answer!

So when you click the "An error occured..." popup, what does it show?
(the same can be invoked by running the update manually e.g. from the avast tray icon).

Thanks

Hmm, that is a strange message indeed. Are you using a localized version of avast?

BTW could you post the tail of the file <avast>\setup\setup.log (let's say ~100 last lines).

Thanks

Thanks! Every time I open my PC I get this message!
- Do you mean by" localized version of avast" the localization you choose right before downloading the Avast-prgrm?
-And what do you mean by posting "tail of the file <avast>\setup\setup.log (let's say ~100 last lines). I do not know what to do! Setup from where etc.

Thanks

Localized = "non English version"

The setup.log file is located in the setup folder of avast! installation folder.
