I choose I like version 7 better not because of the looks or function.
The bigger concern is that it takes all the bandwith. I notice, when I installed the new version, that my internet connection was slower.
When I go on youtube, video are slowly getting in.
I tested my bandwidth with speedtest.net and network icontrol (program show you what programs are using bandwidth)
When I lunch speedtest, firefox utilize maximum 200.00 kbps and avast takes 800.00 kbps. When I disable avast : I get full 1000.00 kbps
<snip>
I really don't understand this at all, avast doesn't take up bandwidth without purpose.
When you browse the web all http traffic is redirected through the web shield proxy, so would be seen as avastSvc.exe, what you would normally see is a reduction in the bandwidth for those processes being redirected through the web shield proxy.
What you didn't say is the subsequent bandwidth used by firefox when you disabled avast.
I don't see any drop in bandwidth availability with the web shield enabled.
There are also some adverse reports on network icontrol actually taking up bandwidth (
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/312236-30-beware-asus-network-icontrol-kill-upload-speeds), not knowing how network icontrol works, there is every possibility its traffic and bandwidth may also be shown against avastSvc.exe.
Whilst using any type of tool like this you have to be doing exactly the same thing in each test and have cleared the browser cache or you aren't going to get a valid comparison.
