Problems with today program update
« on: September 18, 2003, 07:53:32 PM »
This evening avast! has updated itself and now it doesn't work well.
Double-clicking on avast!Antivirus icon the splash screen freezes and this message pops up:

Unknown error.
Program cannot set property into main Storage.

To get rid of it I must use the Task Manager.
Then I see the window of avast! and I think it could scan the system (I tried it only a few minutes) but its reactions are very slow: e.g. to exit I have to wait about 20 seconds after my click on exit.
Having read in another thread to check the sys drivers in windows\system32\drivers, I did it and, being the time stamps of the creation date different, I overwrote them with those of the avast4\setup\inf directory. But the problem is still there.
What can I do? Please help and forgive my English.
Thank you.

Windows XP Home SP1.
Many months user of Avast (English Version) without any problem until now.

Hmm, looks like the storage file is broken or something...??? It shouldn't be connected directly with the update - the storage code hasn't changed for ages...

You may try to delete (or better move/rename) the file <avast>\data\avast4.mdb (that's the storage). It should be recreated by avast! next time you start it.
