automatic update problem

try to repair avast installation this may fix most of problems .to repair avast installation

controlpanel--->AddorRemove programs and click remove  a dialog box will appear

scroll down to repair and then click next  to start repairing of avast installation. hope

Just for info., when I had the problem, trying to do the repair was a waste of time, because in order to do it, the first thing it seemed to do was to try and connect over the internet, just as when trying to do an update, and of course it can't.

Ok, I tried that, it said the program was successfully repaired. We'll see what happens next.
