Avast problem

when ever i load avast it says 3 error messages  storage cannot be created for the "splash" task. then the program shuts down then another 1 is configuration is not loaded properly. error dbs create object. Finally program cannot save parameters to the storage! error dbs create object

this problem is due to old odbc drivers.change the database from odbc to xml database
this can be done using  RejZor avast external control utitlity can  be downloaded from  http://www.excessive-software.tk/  this should solve your problem

ok but which 1 do i click in the program like the first 1 is avast statusinfo then avast main control then likethat wich 1 do i click out of those

Change avast! Database Storage Method (XML/ODBC).

Self-explanatory really ;D the cryptic clue was in the post.

I have this same problem, Computer is HP XE-763, using Windows ME. I tried to load the link given, but can't get it, tried the do net detect, but still won't get it.
I put Avast on my grandson's computer which has Windows XP, it worked on on it.

Did you not try the other option of changing the storage method as well?

Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

Well! The link worked ok this morning, so I changed it to XML and all's well so far. Thanks!
