What is the last VPS you have?
« on: December 05, 2013, 04:15:58 PM »
I still have 131203-1, altough stream updates shows folders for 131204-2, 131205 and 131205-2. Is my avast missing out something?

Which version of avast are you running, v8.0 or v2014?
v2014 is on a different vps update cycle than previous versions.
If you are using v2014 you should be receiving continuous streaming updates.
Continuous streaming updates keeps the user protected while reducing the need
for regular vps updates.  8)

No, your avast is not missing anything this is proven by the fact that you are receiving the continuous streaming updates.
As I mentioned, you are very much being protected. Don't get too hung up on vps versions.

As of this morning, I had 13-12-03-1 in avast 8; but 13-12-05-1 in avast 2014.
(I'm not at my avast system now to check the streaming updates....)

Per Para-noid, this is apparently normal.

Presumably, that means 7 and 8 (and earlier versions) are lumped together in terms of database updates.   So what is normal for 8 would likewise be normal for 7.

And those versions (7,8 and new 2014) have differnet cores or why is the update cycle different?

The avast 2014 9.0.x has an optimised virus definitions database, which differs from that used in avast 5, 6, 7 & 8.

I'm still at 131205-0 with Avast 2014 right now.  Odd that you updated to 131205-1 three hours ago with the same Avast version, yet it is not available for update here, as I just rechecked manually.

Gopher,
I'm not at my avast machines at the moment to confirm/check.   I guess it's possible that I mistyped the subversion #... but it was definitely today's.

No problem, ky331.  Some while back, there were sync issues with the Avast VPS and streaming servers in that some areas got updates while others didn't, depending on which servers the particular Avast install contacted.  That has been cleared up for quite a while.
