update problem

my avast says last attempt to update unsuccessful and when I hit the update button it gets to vps_32 and stops. don't know if it related but when I start the computer it really slow. im kinda new the to the whole computer thing any tips to get the latest virus defionitions

does avast give any error messages?
do you recive stream updates?

if so all is ok and you have all the updates it need

ya when I turn the computer on a box pops up and says it cant update usually a voice says automatically updated when I goto my devices from the avast tab and sign in it says old defenitions. I will probably be posting asking questions because I have a ton. thanks alot
