@Figgs,
You also forget that one securities programs interpretation of PUP may be my favorite utility.
Many times it depends oh how that so called PUP is used and what installed it on your system.
A keylogger is a PUP if installed by a third party without your consent.
A keylogger installed by me on my computer to track my Grandchildrens activity is a tool for me and certainly not a PUP.
We are here to help so please don't bite our head off.
I do apologize for biting your head off, as you say, but I have been ill for a few days with a virus and did not like the cavalier attitude of Craig. He obviously had NOT read what I said and gave me a patronizing pep talk about what a PUP is and how I should never do what I did and so on. Being a once fiery redhead (gray now), I reacted strongly to being treated like a newbie. Those who know me personally would not be surprised by my reaction.
I checked my settings on Avast and they were fine. One assumes that an antivirus program is "ready-to-go" when it is downloaded. A few minor tweaks by me like unchecking outgoing mail, etc....making sure everything is set to a normal range and so on. I also have my own "security tweaks" and always have used them. Minor stuff, but not about to lose passwords or 15 yrs. of genealogy research!!
I am presently running a quick scan and if anything is amiss, I will let you know. I rely more on MBAM and a couple of small freebie programs like Ccleaner, knowing that Avast is running in the background. And I do recommend it to friends on genealogy forums for instance, where I am asked quite often what antivirus program I use and recommend.
OK, scan is done and I am 100% clean and I made sure that every darn place the word PUP showed up was check-marked. My settings are the same as your screen grab. So I have gone thru Avast and made sure everything was kosher and am satisfied with how I have it set up.
Btw........you have one year more than we do (53 yrs for us next month)......we is getting old!!
