Found that this works...once you had removed the offending app;

Scan using the AV then WHILE it is scanning go to the Phone notifications, select the avast! notification and the Avast notifications page will appear which should show the now obsolete warning  message, then press the clear button at the top of the page.

Confirmed this works. Thank you!

what i had to do -
mine did not go even after clearing the notification or ignoring the false alarm app.
so i uninstalled avast app itself, then when reinstalling - i unchecked the Scan for PUP option.

I tried this this on two devices with the same message and it DID NOT WORK on either device.  Tried it twice, and rebooted between each attempt.

A couple questions and observations about this proposed solution:

1) When you say "Scan using the AV" do you really mean the Avast "Virus Scanner" function, or do you mean the Avast "Privacy Advisor" function?  Since you said AV, I ran the Virus Scanner and followed the procedure above and it did not work.  I would appreciate some clarification here and the exact steps taken.

2) When I look at the current Android notifications, I see the recurring "Avast Privacy notification" so then I try your procedure by running the Avast "Virus Scanner".  Then while it is running, I went directly to the phone notifications and I saw all the notifications on the phone including the currently running virus scan but now I don't see the "Privacy Issue" notification under the notifications.  So, I still cleared all the notifications using the "Clear" button in the upper right on the notification panel and it just clears all the notifications as it should.  If I wait an hour or two after all of this, the same Avast Privacy Notification pops back up even though the app it found was uninstalled months ago.

3) Another part that I'm unclear of in your proposed solution is the "select the avast! notification and the Avast notifications page will appear which should show the now obsolete warning message" however, I never see an "Avast Notifications page".  I only see the Android Notifications page (same as the Android pull down notifications), but I never see a specific Avast Notification page as mentioned above.  Am I missing something here?   I'm not trying to split hairs here but since the proposed solution is not working for me, I'm trying to make sure that I am following your directions exactly.

Thanks for your help!

Scott,
you are on the wrong way :)
1) You should start the Virus Scanner option.
2) When the scanning process is ongoing, scroll down the Notification Drawer (I mean the area where Android shows all the notifications), and you will see Avast is scanning. Touch that line - it will pop up the "hidden" Avast screen where you can see the Avast Notifications. _There_ will be a Clear button, you must use that, not the one of the standard Android Notification Drawer.
I still can confirm that this method is working for me. No old warnings came back since I gone through the steps Big Ron provided.
Good luck - if you still have problem, just post it! :)

Hi konnoriximus...

First of all, thanks for your quick response.

Second, I did start the Avast Virus Scanner option and followed the above previously mentioned procedure and it didn't work for me.  However, I will try again what you posted but I realize that I'm running Nova Launcher and that may be the reason why I'm not seeing things (notification drawer, etc) the same way you are.  I'll disable Nova Launcher, reboot, and try the method you have stated and then report back.  For now, I have to make dinner for me and the wife!  More to follow....

So the problem (for me) with not being able to get to the Avast notification window was due to the fact that I was running Nova Launcher.  I went in, temporarily reverted back to Samsung's TouchWiz, and then followed the procedure outlined previously and I was able to successfully get to the Avast notification page where I could clear the "privacy issue".   I re-enable Nova Launcher and so far everything seems to be working correctly without seeing the privacy issue again!

Thanks for all the help!

Phone:  Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (AT&T)

Avast Product: Avast Mobile Security (Premium/Paid/Full version)

Launcher:  Nova Launcher (Premium/Paid/Full version)

The notification I continued to receive was:  "avast 1 possible issues in Mind Games"  (Mind Games is a free game on Google Play)

When I would tap the notification for this (from pulling down from the top of my phone), it would take me to the main menu of Avast Mobile Security.  I had no way to clear the notification within Avast.  I'm not sure if this was simply due to Nova Launcher, or a bug in the notification function.

I did not see a way to get to "notifications" from the main Avast Mobile Security menu.  Did I miss it or does it not exist?
This is the "hidden menu" mentioned in a previous post, that you can see if you start a Virus Scan, and tap the notification for the scan as the scan progresses.

SUGGESTION:
Could this please be made visible from the main menu where everything else is so that we are able to clear these notifications?
If it is simply due to a 3rd party launcher other than TouchWIZ, perhaps some code can be modified in case a user is using any launcher, so that this menu is visible?

Thank you for such a great product, I am only posting this to share my experience and to help improve the product and customer experience.

Thanks for the report, I will pass it to developers. Nova is quite used launcher, so I think it will be possible, but no promises..
