I have switched on UAC in my Vista to prevent my brother from installing or running any other programs than I have installed

I am the admin and he has got a standard user a/c

I tried installing Yahoo Messenger but only I can run it after install but my brother can't

Whenever he clicks on the Yahoo Messenger icon, it never starts

Windows Live messenger don't have this problem even if UAC is switched on.

Why don't you try switching on the UAC and run your Yahoo on a standard user?

Then you'll find that what I am saying is correct

Because I don't have a vista (or 7) machine to test it on.  It's fine if you're right, and I don't mind being wrong.  But that's just retarded if the program can't even run (it's just an IM program for cryin' out loud!) without running under an admin account.

Oh well, you're an admin so you can run it.

I guess you could always right-click and run as admin if you're ever logged in as a standard user.

But, my brother will have to enter my password if he right clicks and clicks run as admin.

I don't like sharing any password with him ;D

He is the standard user and he is asking me for Yahoo

I told him to use some other messenger

Bob, DriverEasy and DriverMax promises more that they can release sometimes.
A lot of drivers updates could mess your computer and are not needed. Just take care. I need to restore a full partition backup after installing some drivers suggested by DriverMax...

Thanks for the advise Tech.
Unfortunately, it's impossible for me to totally test every program I list. part of that is up to the user
who finds something that interest him / her.
