Hi all,

New version AVAST 2015 R3 (build number 2015.10.3.2223) has been released:

New features and improvements in Avast 2015 R3:
  • Grimefighter is now redone and called Cleanup.
            - runs without need of reboot
            - much faster
            - runs on more devices (better compatibility)
  • Improved Windows 10 compatibility
  • Ability to check compatibility issues with other antivirus software
  • Host-based intrusion prevention system (HIPS): an installed software package which monitors a single host for suspicious activity by analyzing events occurring within that host
  • StreamFilter with HTTPS scanning  is now available also for Windows XP/Vista
  • NG is not using Volume Shadow Copy Service anymore


How to install:

1. Update from existing Avast version

It should be possible to install this version on top of your existing avast! installation (all settings should be preserved).

To report BSODs, crashes or any other none trivial problems please use new SupportPackage generating tool.

Im already running this Build version but im gonna clean install anyway to avoid potential issues :)

Cant wait for Avast 2016, i hope you have something bigger planned security-wise :D

I've update the AIS via GUI and everything is running smooth as a baby bum ;)

Hi,

it was much nicer, when there was a final release with a different version number as in the past years (even if nothing has changed from RC to RTM). Maybe this should be considered again for future releases.

German users might be interested in the Avast 2015 R3 German Release Notes translation.

I read where the rest of the versions such as Pro went final today. I thought that AIS would as well. Guess not.

I couldn't agree more an RC build number shouldn't suddenly become the the Release version number - even if there have been no changes (in what was a short R3 RC2) the build number should have an incremental increase (even if artificial) as I feel it avoids confusion.

For those involved in the Beta testing, including RC builds still have 2015 BETA emblazoned on the UI.

If there are many new/updates things due soon why the rush to avast 2015 R3 ???
