it was much nicer, when there was a final release with a different version number as in the past years (even if nothing has changed from RC to RTM). Maybe this should be considered again for future releases.

I couldn't agree more an RC build number shouldn't suddenly become the the Release version number - even if there have been no changes (in what was a short R3 RC2) the build number should have an incremental increase (even if artificial) as I feel it avoids confusion.
For those involved in the Beta testing, including RC builds still have 2015 BETA emblazoned on the UI.
If there are many new/updates things due soon why the rush to avast 2015 R3
