Avast Premier You are unprotected issue
« on: August 22, 2015, 12:23:50 PM »
I renewed my subscription on 18th August and since then the error message has stayed like this.

No matter what I try and do I cannot rectify this.

I am not a computer expert but nothing seems to work.

I have no anti-virus running, have tried the usual uninstall etc and looked at the tech support and contacted Avast and am still waiting for them to reply.

Is this a known issue? Is this a scam like with other anti-virus programs that I have seen?

Many thanks,

Steve

It is a general failure.Just do repair from control panel and then restart few times.This will help 90% of problems.

Hello. Newbie here... same prob as Steve1944, maybe its the "44" in our #'s?;) Anywho, did what you recommended... repaired & restarted more than " a few times"... Tried 8X! Still get same msg... "You Are Unprotected" When I click on most menu option, I get "The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error". Like Steve was, I'm with no virus protection & have been at this for 2 days... so frustrated!! I've done every virus scan you can imagine, a chkdsk, reg & DLL repairs, etc, etc, etc. In doing a malware-antimalware pro scan, I noticed my "real-time' is now off & wont activate. Lord only knows what else is affected, or maybe I should say 'infected'. All this from simply hitting the Avast Update button! Finally called Avast & rep pointed out my Application errors in my Windows Error Report.. said they need to be fixed, for $$$ & then to reinstall Avast, then all will be wonderful in the world again. Yea, right, & I'm Elvis Presley with some fantastic swampland available in FL! Steve1944, you might be onto something with the "scam" notion! I've searched til my blue eyes turned brown & found no way of repairing/deleting these few entries. btw, I'm on XP-3.5SP1, Firefox, Avast Free. Lobster dinner to the 1st person who can solve my mess & GOD Bless YOU! Here's the 12 entries...

@brady

You could try a "Clean Install"
Down load 'and save to your desktop'  the Avast Uninstall  Utility here:https://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility

Download to your Desktop your correct Avast version from here:https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=174286.0

Now disconnect from the Internet
Uninstall Avast via the Control Panel

1.Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode
2.Once complete reboot your system
3.Reinstall Avast

Any better

edit: I personally like to  reboot a couple of times after a RE-Install.

@schmidthouse

ThankYa, ThankYaVeryMuch!! After 5 days down, due to a bad avast download, leading to multiple virus', I finally dug my way outta all the crap, hesitantly doing a system disc restore... was able to get back to your post & used your download link.. so far so good. Appreciate the response! Now, I gotta figure out how the hell to get back all my taskbar shortcuts.. all password loaded... its like I lost the keys to the car!!

Well, turns out to be more than only all my taskbar shortcuts being gone... cant connect to IE... which I HATE anyway... Forefox rules.. which I can connect too & is how I'm able to post, BUT windows(xp) has to have that damn IE.... so, now not only have I lost the keys to the car & damn engine is damn near blown! Any simple, quick solutions, cus I'm outta patience!
