Avast is Getting Downright Annoying
« on: June 01, 2016, 12:26:27 AM »
I'm getting sick of the constant parade of popups popping up in the lower right part of my desktop.  I got 3 of them
today alone.   Avast.....if I want to upgrade or add any of your extra, costly services I will do so.  Please stop the
annoying pop ups.

As has been explained many times, you can disable them in the paid versions.
As a alternative you can select silent/gaming mode which is not recommended since you also won't see alerts.

Please (re)search before posting.

As has been explained many times, if it's a bother to reply to the users question, just leave it to someone else Eddy. :)

Eddy, did you even read the original post?  It's pretty clear OP doesn't intend on upgrading to the paid version.  He just thinks the free version has too many annoying upgrade popups (3 in a day) and as you pointed out, silent/gaming mode wouldn't be an option since it hides alerts too.

I'm personalty only seeing 1 regarding the # of infections blocked during the past month.
I also have no problem simply clicking on the X to close it or, allow it to fade away on it's own.
I am getting excellent protection and it's for free. To me that's more important than getting less protection
so that I don't have any popups. This gives more details about my thought:

It's a trade-off. I used to have Avast on all 4 of my PCs. Now it's only on 1. Other products also use pop-ups, (although they're less frequent). Not every product has boot-scans, customisable scans, network scanner, browser add-on protector, a software updater, etc. If Avast doesn't clash with Malwarebytes or MS Office products on your PC it's probably a very good trade off.

From a security standpoint i'd advise against posting a name and location as your address and phone number is listed on White Pages.
